What is fccla?
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private school through grade 12. Everyone is part of a family, and FCCLA is the only national Career and Technical Student Organization with the family as its central focus. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.
How do i join fccla?
In order to be a member of FCCLA, you must have taken or are currently enrolled in a FACS class in middle school, or high school. You must also pay the appropriate dues.
How much are dues?
Chapter dues are $25, which is broken down into $9 National dues, $2 State dues, $3 Regional dues, and the rest goes towards your chapter t-shirt!
What do you do in fccla?
In FCCLA, there's something for everybody! We attend several conferences throughout the year, both in state and out of state. We also offer competitive events called STAR events. We do community service projects every month and are very involved in our school and community. Check out our Program of Work for more information!
How many people are in fccla?
In our chapter alone, we have 33 members alone! Today over 160,000 members in more than 5,400 chapters are active in a network of associations in 47 states, including the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
How do i become an officer?
Our chapter holds our officer elections at the end of April or the beginning of May. In order to become an officer, you must fill out an officer application. Be on the look out for applications closer to the spring!
what's the time commitment?
FCCLA can be whatever time commitment you want it to be. If you want to be very involved and be an officer, it's going to take up some time. You can also just be a member and attend our community service events, which only takes up a little time. We encourage all members to be as active as they would like!
do you have competitive events?
Why of course we do! Our version of competitive events are called STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition). To learn more, visit the page titled STAR Events!
do you go anywhere fun and exciting?
With FCCLA, the possibilities are endless! FCCLA offers a National Program called The Japanese Exchange Program which offers scholarships to FCCLA students who get to go to Japan! Each year, Nationals is held in a different part of the country. This past year was San Diego, California, and this coming year will be Nashville, Tennessee! FCCLA also offers National Cluster Meetings during the fall which are also located in different places in the country. This past year we went to Denver, Colorado! In Missouri, both Fall Leadership Conference and State Leadership Conference are held at Tan-Tar-A at the Lake of the Ozarks!
